Club Rules

1. All members shall conduct themselves in a manner, which in no way reflects badly on the club. This shall apply on and off the track. Kart racing is a non contact sport.

2. All members shall conduct themselves in a safe in the pit area. Members failing to do so will, at the descretion of the chief marshall, be stopped from racing for the rest of the day.

3. All complaints at race meetings should be addressed to the chief marshall, who's decision shall be final. The driver in writing must make appeals against any decision, to the committee, before the next meeting following the decision; the committee's decision shall be final.

4. No kart may be driven anywhere other than on the track or on the test strip (if one is provided).

5. A kart maybe driven by more than one driver but each driver must sign in and pay an entry fee between them (one fee is payable for the kart). Points will be awarded to the kart. Both drivers must be full club members.

6. Persons under the age of 14 years wishing to race in any class other than the junior classes must apply to the committee for permission to race a kart at one of our meetings. A parent or legal guardian must sign an indemnity on behalf of the junior, which must be logged with the committee before permission is granted, with exception of the 250cc class. The minimum age for the 250cc class being 17 years.

7. All races shall consist of a minimum of 6 laps. The race shall cease upon the leader completing the required number of laps. All competitors taking the chequered flag thereafter provided their kart is mechanically propelled will receive their relevant position points.

8. All novice drivers will be required to display a plain white number plate on the rear of their kart for a minimum of 3 meetings and start from the back of the grid for their first meeting.

9. At each race meeting points will be awarded for each race as follows; 1st=20, 2nd=18, 3rd=16, 4th=14, 5th=12, 6th=10, 7th=8, 8th=6, 9th=4, 10th=2. The championship season to consist of an allotted amount of race meeting's less one of the lowest scored meeting's which has been organized and not cancelled.

10. No scarves to be worn while racing or practising. No loose clothing to be worn. No seat belts in any form or straps of any type will be permitted. Long hair must be worn either in a hair net or secured in the overall at all times the kart is in motion.

11. Protective clothing must be worn (crash helmet, gloves, goggles and overalls) and should cover there eyes, arms and hands at all times the kart is motion. They must be firmly fixed by means provided, on failure to comply will result in automatic disqualification from the race. Crash helmets must be road legal.

12. All the drivers must assemble on the dummy grid and go to the start in the order drew on the dummy grid.

12a. All drivers must draw for grid positions at the first meeting of the season (failure to do so will mean starting at the back of the grid). Each meeting after, the drivers will be given their start position in relation to their current standing championship position. All new entrants to any classes after the first meeting are to start at the back of the grid.

13. From the dummy grid drivers will proceed on a warming up lap and any kart not fired up ready to race by the end of this lap will be deemed to be non-competitive.

14. In the event of spinning out and stalling etc, after the race has started no outside assistance will be permitted (except junior classes). Any kart stalling on the start line prior to the race will start from the back of the grid, any driver who stalls a second time will be disqualified, with exception of the junior classes. A driver who assists a stalled kart may resume his grid position.

15. All matters of safety regarding the construction of karts shall be left to the discretion of the scrutineer.

16. In the event of a breakdown on the track the driver must push the kart to a position where it in no way obstructs the other competitors. Any kart that has broken down must be removed from the track at the race as quickly as possible

17. All junior and 4-stroke class engines must use parts originally designed and made for the engine in use and the engine specification must comply with those listed in the Haynes motorcycles manuals copies of these will be held by the club and be made available at race meetings.

18. Anyone wishing to have an engine stripped for any reason must pay a deposit of £50 having made this request to the clerk of the coarse any examination will be under the supervision of the scrutineer any request taken up must be carried out at the racing venue of the meeting. The clerks of the course, scrutineer or committee have the right to have an engine stripped without paying a fee.

19. All Karts must be fitted with an effective kill switch or button. This must be easily accessible to both driver and marshals.

20. All signed in drivers will be ineligible for the mechanics race.

21. All fuel used must be either l.r.p./unleaded and commercially available at roadside filling stations. All other fuels/additives are illegal.

22. All Racing will not commence until sufficient flag marshals are recruited. Where no permanent marshals are forthcoming volunteers will be sought from the days-signed in drivers to marshals races they are not involved in. When no volunteers are forthcoming a ballot will be held. Junior drivers will not be included but during their races a parent or mechanic will be expected to assist around the track as extra marshal/observers.

23. Any person winning an annual trophy for a third time is not allowed to keep the trophy but will be awarded a suitable replica.

Flags

The following flags will be used to act as a signal to drivers, either practising or racing. Any driver disregarding these will, at least, be stopped from racing for the remainder of the meeting.

 

Union Jack flag   Union flag - the flag used at the start of the race.
     
Yellow flag   Yellow flag - danger, NO overtaking. Proceed with caution.
     
Blue flag   Blue flag - beware of faster driver(s) about to overtake you. Hold your line on the track.
     
Red flag   Red flag - all karts must STOP IMMEDIATELY when they see this flag.
     
Black flag with white strip   A black flag with a white stripe - shall be used to warn drivers of bad driving. Any driver being shown the black and white warning flag will be penalised half of the points scored in the race that the flag is shown. After being shown this flag once, the driver will be shown the black flag and disqualified for the remainder of the meeting.
     
Black flag   Black flag - If this flag is displayed to a driver it means he/she will return to the pits at the end of the lap they have just started and report to the chief marshal.
     
Chalk board   A chalk board - showing the kart number will be displayed to any driver being shown the black and white or black flag.
     
Chequered flag   Chequered flag - this flag is shown to announce the end of the race.
